The Know Your Peace Public Awareness and Education Campaign
The Know Your Peace Campaign was developed by Sunrise of Pasco Primary Prevention Team with input from teachers and students involved with the Youth Community Action Team Project at Zephyrhills High School and other youth from the surrounding communities. The YCAT project is a school club that was developed to foster a climate of respect amongst students in school, increase awareness of healthy relationships among all students and engages each team member to become an active leader in their community. The Florida Department of Health Sexual Violence Prevention Program (SVPP) is located in the Division of Family Health Services, Bureau of Family & Community Health. The SVPP is federally funded through grants from the National Center for Injury Prevention and Control for Sexual Violence Prevention and Education and the Preventive Health and Health Services Block Grant for Sexual Assault Victim Services. State funding is provided to the Florida Council Against Sexual Violence through The Rape Crisis Program Trust Fund (RCPTF).
The SVPP supports the following activities: primary prevention educational trainings to the general public; operation of hotlines; training programs for professionals; efforts to increase awareness in underserved communities and services to victims of sexual assault through contracted providers.
